1961 Austin, Mini Cooper S |
Specially
customized by McQueen friend and fellow performance car aficionado Lee
Brown, this Mini was driven by the noted actor in and around Hollywood.
It was painted brown like a number of other McQueen cars and a large
sunroof was installed to enhance its sporty flair. Preferring not to
look at a radio antenna while driving, Steve McQueen had Brown move it
into a recess in the right rear fender. Other special details include a
single fog light mounted on the front bumper and a custom interior by
upholsterer Tony Nancy. Discovered in used, but original condition, the
Mini survives with all of its modifications intact and is now awaiting
restoration. Collection of Lee Brown |
